DAVID FAIRS
David's taste for adventure began in the Army where he gained experience in expedition leadership. This included leading a kayak expedition down the Nile in the Sudan, trips to Canada, Norway and other far-flung places. He left the Army in mid-career to start a new career in the holiday business.
David continued his interest in adventurous activities by developing Langdale Walking Holidays during his ten years as Managing Director of Langdale Leisure Ltd. He has led most of the Langdale Walking Holidays overseas visits so far and continues to seek out new and exciting destinations around the world. David is a Fellow of The Royal Geographical Society (FRGS).
CHRIS COLLIER
Chris Collier lives near Windermere and has a love of the great outdoors including walking the Lakeland Fells, skiing, sailing and tennis. Chris was until recently Chief Executive of Cumbria's regeneration company, Cumbria Vision, and had previously spent nine years as Chief Executive of Cumbria Tourist Board, now re-named Cumbria Tourism.
Chris's walking experience began as a small child growing up in the Lake District and her sense of adventure was kindled as a fourteen year old, when her first trip abroad took her to Italy, Greece and Turkey. She has since visited many countries and exploring the world continues to be a favourite pastime.
She is Chair of Nurture Lakeland (formerly the Lake District Tourism and Conservation Partnership), is involved in a number of other charitable ventures, and was awarded the OBE for her services to UK tourism.
