DAVID FAIRS
David's taste for adventure began in the Army where he gained experience in expedition leadership. This included leading a kayak expedition down the Nile in the Sudan, trips to Canada, Norway and other far-flung places. He left the Army mid-career to start a new holiday business.
David continued his interest in adventurous activities by developing Langdale Walking Holidays during his ten years as Managing Director of Langdale Leisure Ltd. He has led most of the Langdale Walking Holidays overseas visits so far and continues to seek out new and exciting destinations around the world. David is a Fellow of The Royal Geographical Society (FRGS).

CHRIS TOMLINSON
Chris Tomlinson (Collier until recently, but now married to Ian) lives near Windermere and has a love of the great outdoors including walking the Lakeland Fells, skiing, tennis, cycling and sailing. Prior to taking early retirement, Chris was Chief Executive of Cumbria's regeneration company, Cumbria Vision, and had previously spent nine years as Chief Executive of Cumbria Tourist Board.
Chris's walking experience began as a small child growing up in the Lake District and her sense of adventure was kindled as a fourteen year old, when her first trip abroad took her to Italy, Greece and Turkey. She has since visited many countries on all five continents and exploring the world continues to be a favourite pastime.
She is a Trustee of Cumbria Community Foundation, a Director of Nurture Lakeland, is on the management team of the Hunter Davies Lakeland Book of the Year Awards and is involved in a number of other charitable ventures. In 2007 she spent time in Kazakhstan working for VSO and in 2002 was awarded the OBE for services to UK tourism.
IAN TOMLINSON
Ian is married to Chris and was formerly Sales Director for a large, well known IT company, with responsibility for sales and marketing across the Globe. He is currently non-executive Director and Acting Chairman of the local Hospital Trust.
Ian has travelled extensively both for business and pleasure but still has a few "must see" destinations on his "to do" list. A talented photographer, Ian also enjoys walking, cycling and sailing. He has restored more than one classic car in his time, going on to participate in events at home and abroad and winning several prizes in the process. More recent interests include skiing and tennis... and you don't have to look too far to see who introduced them to him.

GEOFF BUCK
Geoff lives in Devon and recently retired from full-time employment in the engineering sector so that he could relax and travel more. When he was in the Royal Navy he qualified as a Joint Services Mountain Expedition Leader and then led expeditions in the UK and also trained young officers in "adventurous" skills.
Geoff has excellent experience of Langdale Holidays and its clients having travelled with us to Crete, New Zealand, Patagonia, Bolivia, Peru, Galapagos Islands, Morocco and the Pyrenees. He has canoed down the Zambezi, walked in the African bush, taken an adventure cruise around Svalbard (Spitsbergen) and done "snow activities" in Arctic Finland, as well as visiting Australia, India, Canada, China, Hong Kong, Singapore and Ireland. He regularly walks on Dartmoor and along the South West Coastal Path.
Andy Hibbert (Webmaster)
Struggling to bring you news of all the great holidays on offer, our webmaster, (complain to him about anything you don't like about these pages...), Andy Hibbert travails over his keyboard as you lucky people bestride the world.
Langdale Holidays has great plans - not to become another large, faceless conglomerate; rather to do more of what we know we do well: think up, organise & deliver truly unique and very personal tours to some of this planet's most interesting locations.
Andy's favourite part of the world (West Africa) is currently perhaps a little too disorganised for the neat, organised tours that rely on those rigid schedules so essential for stress-free travel, but the lure (to him at least) is just that chaos & serendipity - you need infinite patience coupled with a robust sense of humour. The music helps of course...
