INTRODUCTION
Join us for the breathtaking spectacle of the Edinburgh Military Tattoo and some of The Fringe attractions of the Edinburgh Festival. The weekend includes two nights at the four-star George Hotel, reserved seats for The Edinburgh Military Tattoo, fireworks display, and a half-day guided walk along the Royal Mile, passing the Scottish Parliament and up into the hills overlooking the City of Edinburgh to Arthur's Seat.

EDINBURGH MILITARY TATTOO
We can look forward to watching the Tattoo from the best seats available on the East Stand, below the Royal Box and facing the entrance to Edinburgh Castle. Acclaimed by many as one of the greatest shows on earth, the Tattoo is a dazzling and compelling celebration of music, dance and drama. Set against the magnificent backdrop of Edinburgh Castle, the Edinburgh Military Tattoo is an unforgetttable experience. The Saturday night performance concludes with a spectacular fireworks display.

THE FRINGE
The Edinburgh Festival Fringe is the world's largest arts festival, presenting thousands of performances in hundreds of different venues and promises an inspirational mix of theatre, comedy, music, dance and children's entertainment in Scotland's stunning capital city. It's no wonder that Rough Guides voted the Edinburgh Festival the UK's number one tourist experience.

THE INTERCONTINENTAL GEORGE HOTEL
Designed by Robert Adam over 200 years ago, the hotel has retained much of its original architectural detail and has recently undergone extensive refurbishment. The hotel's 195 rooms are luxuriously appointed with all the facilities that you would expect of a four-star hotel, many with superb views over the Firth of Forth and Edinburgh Castle. The George is superbly located in the historical city centre, near Princes Street Gardens and within easy walking distance of all the city sights, including Edinburgh Castle and Holyrood Palace. PROGRAMME
Saturday 6th August 2011
Rooms are available at the hotel from 3.00pm, or arrive early and leave your cases with the concierge while you explore Edinburgh. Meet in the hotel lounge at 6.45pm for a welcome reception, followed by optional dinner in the hotel or local restaurant. The Edinburgh Military Tattoo performance at Edinburgh Castle starts promptly at 10.30pm and you should aim to be seated by 10.00pm.

Sunday 7th August 2011
After a full Scottish breakfast in the hotel we leave for a guided walk along the Royal Mile, passing the Scottish Parliament and up to Arthur's Seat, situated on the volcanic hills to the east of Edinburgh above the Palace of Holyrood house. The walk should take about three hours. Please note that the footpath to Arthur's Seat is fairly steep. An alternative and easier route is possible, making the overall grade for the walk Easy. Following the walk we will find a good spot to watch the Festival Parade which includes pipe bands, performers and floats representing all participants of the Festival. This event only takes place on the first Sunday of the Festival and should not be missed.

Free time in the afternoon to explore Edinburgh, or to attend one of the many Fringe performances, followed by an optional dinner in a local restaurant.

Monday 8th August 2011
Full Scottish breakfast in the hotel, followed by free time. Leave your luggage with the concierge and take extra time to visit The Fringe or explore Edinburgh.
